Life in Quarantine

In this time of uncertainty, I have found it easier to get through by being surrounded by family. In the image above, you can find my Mom, Step-dad, and Bentley, my dog.

Quarantine isn’t easy. I find myself sleeping, A LOT, snacking endlessly, and bored out of my mind. My hardest adjustment has been finding a new normal, and creating a daily routine. I became used to following a schedule that included waking up and going to breakfast, attending class, and lifting and practicing with my teammates.

Having to come home and not being able to see all of my friends and teammates everyday has been the hardest adjustment.

But I am thankful. Mostly for the fact that I get to see my mom everyday, although she does get on my nerves. But I am mostly thankful for all of this downtime. I get to remember what it was like to relax and take the time to do things I wouldn’t normally do. Recently, I have began going on walks. I often find myself a couple miles down the road at the Dunkin Donuts, where I have become a “regular”. The employees now remember my order!

I also really enjoy taking my dog for walks and car rides. He’s too old to walk with me to get coffee, but on the days where it’s not so nice out, I’ll take him for car rides to get coffee.

During this quarantine, I got to celebrate my birthday. Although I was really looking forward to getting to spend the day with my friends and teammates, I wasn’t disappointed that I got to spend the day with my family. I made a trip to my grandparents house where I got to sit 6 feet apart from them and eat cake, and my Aunt and Uncle even surprised me with a giant poster. Even though I wanted to celebrate with my friends, we made plans to do so once quarantine is over, which is something I can look forward to.

Overall, my quarantine experience hasn’t been the worst. I’m still getting a degree thanks to technology, I’m working out daily, and most importantly I am spending quality time with my family.
